  • Cyrano de Bergerac

Brief Summary

The life and death of Cyrano, a musketeer in the service of Louis the XIII. Cyrano has a large nose and is considerably touchy about it. He loves his cousin Madeleine Robin, who goes by the name of Roxane, but doesn't think he stands a chance. When Roxane tells him that she loves Christian de Neuvillette, he takes the youth under his wing and protects him, even befriending him despite their competition, and courting Roxane for him. Christian is eventually killed in battle. Decades later, Cyrano is assassinated for his opinions, but does not die before being told by Roxane that she loves him - and ever only loved the man who wrote her the letters.
